Meet Lily Cannon
Please meet Lily Cannon, Lead Designer at MDI. Born and raised in Charleston, Lily spent a few years as a Psychology major at USC in Columbia, then moved back to Charleston to earn a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Charleston.

Meet Designing Dog, Benji
At MDI, our dogs are part of the family. We have a dog-friendly design studio and on any given day there will be at least a couple of our furry friends hanging out with us. Today we’d like to introduce you to Benji, a six-year-old Morkie Poo who belongs to Abigail, our office and design assistant.

Meet Abigail Carr Botero
We’d like to introduce you to Abigail Carr Botero, MDI’s Design Assistant, Design Librarian, and Office Assistant. Abigail was born in Locust, North Carolina, a small town east of Charlotte. When Abigail says “small town” she means it. There were “a whopping 4 stop lights in the whole city,” she says.

This Kiawah Island home was designed to be durable for the large extended family to enjoy with ease and comfort. From distressed woods, stain treatments and the use of indoor/outdoor fabrics, to the focus on function throughout the design, each room captures the essence of practical island living.
Fripp Island Oceanfront
Today we have a wonderful home tour of one of our recent projects on Fripp Island. This oceanfront property has a sophisticated, island elegance. With four adult children, a posse of grandchildren, and an open-door policy for their large extended family, this Fripp Island home had to be user-friendly, low maintenance, durable, welcoming and beautiful.
